New Field Laptop
$1,399
The unthinkable happened last time we were in the field conducting pre-assessments of schools in the mountainous region of the ShaanXi Province: our field laptop took a nasty spill. Our field laptop is a critical member of The Library Project's team, and needs to be replaced asap.
We use our field laptop to introduce our organization visually to the administration of each elementary school we visit. We also produce our completion reports, update our website, and do our daily accounting on it.

Children's books
$1 for each book
The Library Project purchases local language children's books off the shelve at bookstores for a discount of 18% to 60%. Purchasing directly from a bookstore ensures that we are providing the newest and most updated children's books on the market.
Most of our books are color, odd sized, high quality children’s books. The subjects range from history, science, short stories, fairy tales, "PinYin" books for young readers, children’s dictionaries, children’s reference books and comic books.
There has not been one elementary school or orphanage that we provided a library to that wasn't amazed at the quality of books that we donated. The kids love them!
We generally provide between 500 and 1,000 children's books for each library.

Wooden Tables
$50 for each table
We have child-safe wooden tables specially made at local factories. Our wooden tables are designed to be the correct size for children to sit comfortably at. There is a special plastic rip built into each table to make them safer for the children to sit at.
We generally provide between 4 and 6 wooden tables for each library.

Colorful Chairs
$25 for each chair
Our colorful chairs are a huge hit at each school. We purchase them directly from the local furniture markets. They come in red, green, blue and green. Our colorful chairs really brighten up the children's reading area, and most of the time our libraries are the brightest rooms in the schools and orphanages that we work with.
Each chair is made of the sturdiest plastic and metal so that they will last for years, not months.
We generally provide between 24 and 30 colorful chairs for each library.

Comfortable stools
$25 for each stool
We purchase our comfortable stools directly from local furniture markets. They come in red, green, blue and green. We like to provide small stools to help fill out the room to accommodate a minimum of 30 children at one time. Most of the time the space available cannot easily accommodate those kinds of numbers, and stools are a great way to help fix a difficult problem. Most importantly, the kids love them!
We generally provide between 10 and 20 comfortable stools for each library.

Sturdy Bookshelves
$100 for each bookshelf
Our sturdy bookshelves are often overlooked by the children, but are loved by the school administration. We custom design each bookshelf to fit within the available space at each elementary school and orphanage.
Many times our bookshelves are used to help "liberate" the school's children's books from the locked library and get them onto shelves in each classroom.
We generally provide between 3 and 6 sturdy bookshelves for each library.
