The Mi Cun Elementary School is a Focus School. A Focus School is a school that will be experiencing an increase in attendance because of school consolidations and closures in the area. It is estimated that the attendance will jump to well over 400 students in the next couple of years. This jump in attendance will add to an already strained budget that the administration has to balance.

The Mi Cun Elementary School has 15 teachers and 15 classrooms.

A short video of the library at Mi Cun Elementary School

The Mi Cun Elementary School is no different from most countryside elementary schools in China with regards to their library. This school had books, but the books were written for university and high school students. Their reading area was rarely ever used and had been neglected because of the low quality books in their collection.

On November 2, 2007 The Library Project transformed the Mi Cun Elementary School library with a donation of four sturdy wooden tables and seating for thirty children. Along with providing a globe, posters and plants, The Library Project also upgraded their collection of books with 500 hi-quality children's books in the Chinese language.

The Library Project made a clear IMPACT in the quality of education that the administration are able to provide for the children that attend at Mi Cun Elementary School. Games, arts and crafts, and introducing the administration to their new library are just a few ways that we were a positive impact on the lives of the children at Mi Cun Elementary School. This impact will be seen for year to come through the use of their library on a daily basis, but also through the positive impact that our volunteers made while donating the library.
