The Dalian Children's Orphanage is located in Dalian, China. This orphanage is one of the only privately funded orphanages in the Liaoning Province. The woman that has run the orphanage for the past 20 years is nothing short of amazing. Her orphanage gives a home to 30 children.

The Dalian Children's Orphanage is filled with love. It should be a model to all orphanages. What makes this orphanage different from most in Asia is that the children don't have to leave at 18 years old. The woman who runs the orphanage truly sees herself as each child's mother. It is not uncommon for her children to go on to university.

We were given a large corner to build a children's library in. Over 3,500 books, fun chairs, a table, plants, games, shelving posters and lighting were all donated by The Library Project.

All books were donated through our Chinese partner, Aston English. The Library Project held a two week book drive at each of their seven Dalian English language schools. Aston English volunteers were a huge help in building the libraries on site.

The Library Project provided a safe, fun and accessible place for children living at the Dalian Children's Orphanage to learn and grow.
